If Computer Science is applied Mathematics, then Informatics is Applied Computer Science, which is why this course is often referred to as Applied Computing.
Today was my first day of class—although two weeks have already passed. I must say, the way Professor Totaro conducts the class and the overall process is truly exceptional.
It wasn’t until today that I realized how a platform like Moodle can be used in so many ways to enhance interactivity. The course I attended today was Foundations of Informatics, and I’m genuinely excited to dive deeper into it.
Furthermore, one thing that got into me is that lately I have been diving deep into Project Management, and to my surprise, Professor Totaro had put on one YouTube link in Moodle as a part of assignment 1, in which a project manager named Pragya Saboo is giving insights on Systems Thinking and Design Thinking. I really loved Ms Saboo's TedX show.
Overall, I believe that anyone interested in applied computing must take the Informatics course instead of Computer Science. People need to understand that if someone is into tech but isn’t passionate about hardcore coding, they don’t necessarily need to pursue Computer Science—they should explore something like Informatics instead.
