๐ Speeding Up Unisala.com: A Quick Dive into UI Optimisation!
๐ Today's Story:
As a part of knowledge sharing session. Today i am sharing a story at Unisala.
We slashed our app's size by 50% and boosted its loading speed to be twice as fast! ๐
The Slow Beginnings:Imagine waiting two whole minutes just to open an app. Yep, that was us โ Unisala.com used to be a 6MB.
๐ Initial Problem: Too bulky
A site taking more than a second to become interactive can lead to user attention loss and a broken perception of completing tasks. 1MB of data takes a minimum of 5 seconds to download on a typical 3G connection. 75% of global mobile users in 2016 were on 2G or 3G
๐ Why So Slow?
Because of the big bundle size of our software i.e 6mb.
Out of which:
๐ Fixing It:
This was our rookie mistake. We did not pay much attention to our production build.
๐ Results:
Currently for the first time user unisala still takes around 55 seconds on 3G network.
We are aiming to optimize it further down. Our goal is to bring it less than 10 seconds!
๐ Let's keep learning and optimising! ๐ช
I will share more stories on this channel.
