Last Updated: March 23, 2026

1. Introduction & Scope

Welcome to TheTouch, a Google Chrome Extension provided by Unisala ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our browser extension and the associated services at unisala.com.

By installing and using TheTouch, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. This policy is designed to comply with global data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

2. Data We Collect

We collect information to provide a tailored resume-building experience. The data collected falls into two categories:

A. Personal Information Provided by You

  • Resume Data: Content you upload in LaTeX or PDF format, which may include your name, contact information, work history, education, and skills.
  • Account Information: Email address and login credentials used to sync your data with your Unisala account.

B. Automatically Collected Data (Technical & Contextual)

  • Job Description Data: When activated, the extension reads the text of job descriptions from the active browser tab to perform AI-driven analysis.
  • Extension Usage Metadata: Information about how you interact with the extension (e.g., timestamps of resume generation).
  • Device & Connection Information: We may collect your IP address, browser type, and version to ensure security and optimize performance.

3. How We Use Your Data

TheTouch processes your data for the following specific purposes:

  1. Tailored Resume Generation: To analyze job descriptions against your resume data to generate optimized, industry-standard LaTeX/PDF resumes.
  2. Service Improvement: To debug issues and improve the accuracy of our AI-driven suggestions.
  3. Synchronization: To save your generated resumes and uploaded data to your Unisala account for access across devices.
  4. Security: To detect and prevent fraudulent activity or unauthorized access to your account.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

To provide our AI features, we share relevant, anonymized, or pseudonymized data with third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers (such as OpenAI or Anthropic/Claude).

  • Processing Only: These providers act as data processors. We send data via secure APIs.
  • Privacy Terms: Data sent to these providers is governed by their respective API privacy terms, which typically prohibit using such data to train their models for general use.
  • No Commercial Sharing: We do not share your data with advertisers or any other third parties for commercial purposes.

5. Security Measures

We prioritize the security of your data:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between TheTouch extension and our backend API at unisala.com is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS (TLS).
  • Encryption at Rest: Your resume data and account information are stored in our databases using robust encryption protocols.
  • Access Control: Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel only when necessary for maintenance or support.

6. Data Retention & Deletion (Your Rights)

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services.

  • Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You can update your resume data at any time through the extension or the Unisala dashboard.
  • Right to be Forgotten (Deletion): You may delete your account or specific resume data at any time. Upon request, we will delete your personal information from our active databases within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at prashant.basnet@unisala.com.

7. Google API Disclosure & Limited Use

TheTouch’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • Specific Permission: The extension requests the tabs and activeTab permissions solely to read job descriptions when the user initiates a "Strike" (resume tailoring) action.
  • No Background Scanning: We do not scan your browsing history or read data from tabs that are not explicitly involved in the resume generation process.

8. Compliance for California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt-out of the "sale" of information (Note: Unisala does not sell your information).
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
